Position summary : Medical Science Liaison
The US Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a key member of the US Medical Affairs Team and reports to the Director, US Medical Affairs. In this remote, customer-facing role, the US MSL is considered the scientific expert and is primarily responsible for engaging relevant health care providers and acting as the key link between these external stakeholders and the company.
The US MSL is expected to have academic credentials, scientific knowledge and pertinent experience to be able to engage with KOLs and other external stakeholders to advance Hansa’s footprint in the clinical and scientific communities. He/she will be tasked with developing a deep understanding of the therapeutic area landscape, as well as the specific needs of the healthcare provider in order to support efforts focused on improving quality of care and patient outcomes.
As a critical partner within Hansa, the USMSL will work collaboratively with Medical Affairs colleagues and other matrix team members in commercial and market access, to successfully execute the medical plan and aid in the achievement of aligned, corporate objectives.
Key tasks and responsibilities
This job description outlines key responsibilities but does not include all potential tasks or duties.
• Complete MSL onboarding, as well as all other subsequent educational/training programs, including disease state, product, and regulatory/compliance training by designated target dates.
• Execute US Medical Strategy through completion of aligned medical objectives and tactics, and contribute to its evolution by gathering and communicating key, pertinent insights obtained from the field.
• In collaboration with market access and commercial, ensure US Transplant Centers site readiness for imlifidase.
• Identify key opinion leaders (KOLs) in the therapeutic area with research experience and/or clinical interests.
• Establish and maintain relationships with KOLs and other relevant healthcare providers to ensure effective and appropriate exchange of scientific information.
• Conduct and/or aid in the development of approved medical/scientific programs (i.e. Advisory Boards, Symposia, etc.) with KOLs and/or other healthcare professionals.
• Raise awareness of Hansa and our research endeavors by engaging in scientific exchange with healthcare providers experienced in the therapeutic area and educating this community on Hansa and its scientific platform.
• Gather and deliver medical insights to the broader matrix team to help educate Hansa colleagues and further enhance strategy.
• Support Professional Congress/Meeting Plans and execute approved tactics to ensure proper engagement of healthcare providers and appropriate/compliant scientific exchange.
• Conduct internal disease state education, product education, and/or other clinical/scientific training programs for medical and cross-functional colleagues, if requested.
• Actively provide scientific support/education for matrix team initiatives. (i.e., Market Access support for payor engagement, commercial support for Speakers’ Bureau, etc.)
• Provide healthcare professionals with accurate, balanced, and timely responses to unsolicited requests for information.
• Coordinate with Clinical Research and Development and Clinical Operations to support recruitment for Hansa’s research protocols, if requested.
• Facilitate the submission of Investigator Initiated Studies (IISs), assist with the review process, and expedite communication among the Primary Investigator, research site personnel, and IIS Review Committee.
• Continue to develop knowledge of the therapeutic area – relevant products, treatment paradigms, latest research, etc. - through Professional Congress/Meeting participation and routine literature reviews.
• Lead, act, and live Hansa values in all aspects of work.
Education and experience requirements
• Doctorate level degree in medical field or research required.
• 3-5 years of industry experience in field medical affairs and/or clinical experience in transplantation/immunology preferred.
• Ability to travel frequently is required. (minimum 60% travel/week)
• Effective presentation, written, and oral communication skills required.
• Ability to educate and deliver complex, scientific information with ease is required.
• Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and adapt to a multicultural environment is required.

Estimated salary range for this role is $165k - $195k annually. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications, skills and experience of the individual applicant, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the geographic location of the individual. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives, as well as participation in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, company holidays and well-being benefits.
