Position summary: US HR Director, Head of US HR
We are seeking an experienced US HR Director, Head of US HR, to take responsibility for the US human resources function. This role requires good experience and knowledge about the Life Science / Pharma Industry from an HR perspective. The role also requires recent US launch and US HR built out experience.
The role reports to the Global CHRO and will work in close collaboration with the HQ in Lund, Sweden. This role will be based at our NYC (Manhattan) office when opened and will require the individual to be at a daily commuting distance from NYC and spend at least 3-4 days/week in the office.
Key tasks and responsibilities

- Oversee and responsible for the US HR Annual plan (e.g Performance Review, Goal Setting, Salary Review, Bonus Process)
- Collaborate with US hiring managers on recruitment efforts by being a strategic partner, drafting and posting job descriptions, managing relationships with staffing agencies (if applicable) and preparing and extending offers of employment.
- Support and work closely with the US organization in workforce planning and the budget process.
- Partner with US HR vendors, payroll, and recruitment companies.
- Partner with Hansa Finance Department on payroll, expenses and benefits for US employees.
- Provide cost effective vendor selection and build strong, collaborative relationships with preferred external partners.
- Utilize current checklists, templates and policies throughout employee lifecycle (e.g., recruitment, onboarding, offboarding) to ensure consistency in practices.
- Collaborate with the HR team and managers to secure efficient onboarding and offboarding process.
- Draft, implement and update HR SOPs and policies (e.g. US Employee Handbook).
- Ensure US employees are aware of and operate within the agreed processes/tools and are properly trained.
- Communicate, implement, and execute on HR strategies, HR processes and activities in line with corporate objectives.
- Act as a trusted partner to assigned managers as the primary HR contact throughout the entire employee lifecycle.
- Provide advice and coaching to managers on matters related to employee relations, performance and development.
- Ensure compliance with US labor laws and HR policies.
- Support the business in succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
- Prepare and participate in (MOCK) Inspections.
- Maintain the HR and Compliance systems, and making sure data is up to date from a US perspective.
- Develop and empower staff, creating a work environment based on mutual trust.
- Drive organizational and cultural change in line with strategy.
- Lead by example through ensuring own compliance with Hansa´s policies, values and code of conduct as well as promoting employees to do so.
Education and experience requirements
- University degree (e.g., Bachelor Human Resource Management degree)
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience from managing HR
- Good experience and knowledge about the Life Science / Pharma Industry from an HR perspective.
- US launch experience from an HR perspective.
- Experience of building and leading a US HR function.
- Experience from a smaller international biotech company is preferred.
- Global/international experience is preferred.
- Experience in general HR administrative duties.
- Good knowledge of US labor law.
- Good interpersonal skills and excellent time management.
- Proactive approach, drive and follow through.
- Must have good organization skills, comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced small company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
- Be a true team player.
- Highly organized and process oriented.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluently communicate in English language, both written and spoken.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Strong working knowledge of other IT systems (e.g. Contract Management Systems, Sharepoint, Travel & Expenses systems, HR and recruitment systems, Teams, Zoom)
- Strong working knowledge in Veeva Quality Docs is preferred.

Estimated salary range for this role is $195,000-$215,000 annually. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications, skills and experience of the individual applicant, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the geographic location of the individual. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives, as well as participation in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, company holidays and well-being benefits.
